Five unloaders for sea-going vessels
The five unloaders situated on our deep sea quay (1,365 m long) running along our waterway (23 m deep) have an average unloading capacity of 140,000 tonnes a day. Throughout the year, our five unloaders are constantly unloading capesize ships (bulk carriers). In addition to these unloaders, we have a floating crane for direct board-to-board loading and even more capacity is available upon request.
Storage, sustainability & the environment
EMO has a storage capacity of seven million tonnes. We monitor stored product regularly and take necessary measures for dust and combustion when required.
Access to European waterways
At EMO, shipping has direct access to the most important European inland waterways. Three barge loaders along our 700 m long quay supply upto 100,000 tonnes of coal and iron ore for waterway transport to various inland European destinations. Other facilities include storage space and a floating crane for board-to-board vessel loading.
Access to European rail network
A dedicated rail cargo line - " the Betuwelijn" - connects EMO directly to the European rail network offering fast, clean and inexpensive access to the hinterland. A large selection of rail carriers offer transport to and from the Netherlands. Both coal and iron ore reach inland Europe by rail.
Sea-going vessels: fast & efficient loading
A sea-going vessel loader in the Mississippi harbour loads coal and iron ore fast and efficiently. This ship loader has a capacity of 6,000 tonnes an hour.
Washing & screening coal
EMO can wash and screen 3,000 tonnes of coal daily. When we wash the coal, we remove impurities in the product and special screening installations separate the clean coal into different grades.
Blending products to your specification
We can blend various grades of steam coal according to customers’ specifications to create a desired composition. We have six blending silos equipped with loaders that have a total capacity of 7,000 tonnes of coal.
