EMO , the European dry bulk goods and transshipment company, is the largest terminal for coal and iron ore in Europe. The biggest seagoing vessels from all over the globe berth along the EMO quay. Our state-of-the-art facilities unload seagoing ships fast and efficiently. Our machine-driven transport conveyor system moves cargo across the terminal for storage, processing or transshipment.

Since 1973
EMO was the first company to move into the Maasvlakte harbour. We set up business there in 1973. Our location offers clients great advantages. Our deep-water connection linked directly to the sea means that the biggest seagoing bulk vessels can berth at the EMO quay. A short turnaround time in port, combined with our high unloading capacity means lower overall transport costs. Good rail and inland waterway connections are important for transportation to destinations elsewhere in Europe and these connections are certainly good in Rotterdam harbour. EMO offers streamlined transport of coal and iron ore to power plants and blast furnaces, thanks to our direct connections to the most important inland waterways deep within Europe and our own line to the Betuwe railroad route.

EMO pays special attention to sustainability on the far larger scale as well. We keep a close eye on trends in output growth at power plants and we support the use of biomass for power generation. We deliberately chose Electrabel as our energy supplier so that we could use more Green energy.
