EMO, the environment and the local community
Close neighbour better than a distant cousin?
EMO is very conscious of its many-faceted role in the Rotterdam area. For some, EMO is an employer, for others a neighbour or an investment partner. For EMO to operate successfully, it is important to gain broad acceptance from people and organisations in the area. This is why EMO tries to be such a good neighbour.
Commercially responsible management is crucial in terms of being a good neighbour. It enables EMO to act responsibly in various ways and to focus on taking responsibility on both the practical and abstract level. For instance, EMO strives to diminish its negative impact on the environment and deliberately chooses sustainable alternatives to reduce CO2 emissions.
Besides contributing to the local environment, EMO strives to contribute to society. Over the years, EMO has set up several activities, mostly initiated by employees, ranging from sponsoring small and large-scale social projects to financially supporting a school or an environmental organisation. EMO’s support is not always financial; our contribution can also be practical. As well as supporting several specific initiatives, EMO contributes to a fund established by the Deltalinqs association that represents logistical and industrial companies in the Port of Rotterdam.
